FAQs
How difficult is the hike to Humantay Lake?
The hike is considered moderate. It takes about 1.5 hours uphill from Soraypampa. Because of the altitude, it is recommended to be acclimatized in Cusco for at least 1–2 days before the tour.
What should I bring?
We recommend comfortable hiking shoes, warm clothing, a rain jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and at least 1 liter of water. Trekking poles are also useful for the steep sections.
Can I do this tour if I’m not used to hiking?
Yes, many visitors complete the hike without previous trekking experience. However, it’s important to walk at your own pace and take short breaks. Horses are available for rent if you prefer not to walk the entire trail.
When is the best time to visit?
The dry season (April – October) is the best time for clear views and sunny weather. The wet season (November – March) brings lush green landscapes, but rain is more frequent.
